Time is You, Away We Go, Verona De Tessant

gloss: woman in front of birch tree looking to the right (Grace - worldbreaker)
From: [personal profile] gloss
prompt: choosing a less than extraordinary life

She was supposed to be an artist. Not just the kind who makes new truths out of what she sees and feels: the kind who also opens la Biennale and parties with rockstars.

She was supposed to change, if not the world, then at least the rules.

They never said so, but both her parents believed this. They depended on that belief; it sustained them, formed the shape of their hope.

They did not live long enough to be disappointed.

Now, she illustrates tumors and abscesses. She details evidence of death, symptoms of rot.

There is grief in every line.
