Teo squinted. It was hard to judge the sun's angle in Ba Sing Se, where tall buildings cluttered the horizon, but he thought he had fifteen minutes to get to class.

He was going to need it. The Engineering Building's front stairs rose before him, grand and inaccessible. He went left instead, squeezing between Engineering and the Observatory, toward a service door with a single step.

He'd been using a board as a ramp, but it was gone. Well. Only one step. He wouldn't let that stand between him and learning.

Gritting his teeth, he forced the chair to jump.
